This is just the beginning

While this chapter is closing, it’s not the end of the story.

With a heavy heart, I’m letting you know that the Daylyn brick-and-mortar store will be closing its doors at the end of January. This decision wasn’t made lightly. At the end of the day, it was a choice I made, and while it wasn’t easy, it feels like the right one for me and my family.

As we look around, it’s no secret that many businesses have faced closures. Sure, I could talk about the economy, rent, big box stores, price increases, or even Amazon—but I don’t want this part of Daylyn to end with external circumstances as the focus.

Daylyn was built on growth, learning, expansion, integrity, and loyalty. To end this part by pointing fingers would diminish everything we’ve achieved together—the lessons learned, the incredible people I’ve met, the wins, and, yes, even the failures. These experiences have shaped me, and we don’t grow from the easy stuff. Life teaches us through challenges, and it’s how we rise after falling that truly matters.

What I do know is this: I’m choosing to close this chapter on my own terms. This isn’t about blaming circumstances. It’s about realigning with the “why” that inspired Daylyn in the first place. When I opened Daylyn, it wasn’t just a store—it was “Daylyn Local and Global Healing.” It was about supporting local artists, promoting equality for creators around the world, and making a meaningful difference.

Before opening Daylyn, I worked at Nature's Emporium, and this is where the seed of this dream was planted. A three-month road trip to the West Coast and Alaska gave me the inspiration and courage to pursue my vision, but it was the kindness, support, and faith of Joe and Teresa that truly made it possible. They gave me an opportunity to start my dreams, and their belief in me during that pivotal moment shaped everything that followed.

Many may not know this, but Daylyn originally opened for a few months a year prior. Unfortunately, we had to shut down due to a back injury I sustained. It was one of the most challenging times in my life, but the lessons I learned and the support I received gave me the strength to try again. Without Joe and Teresa’s unwavering encouragement, Daylyn as we know it might never have existed. For that, I will always be deeply grateful.

To my local artists and practitioners—I cannot thank you enough. You are the heart and soul of Daylyn. Your unshakable support, kindness, and belief in what we’ve built together have meant the world to me. You’ve not only filled this space with your talents, passions, and energy but also with laughter, shared stories, and connections that I will cherish forever. Every interaction, whether big or small, has contributed to making Daylyn the warm and inspiring place it became. I am deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for allowing Daylyn to be part of your adventure. You’ve left an indelible mark on my life, one that I will carry with me into everything I do moving forward.

To our loyal customers—you’ve been more than just shoppers; you’ve been a community, a family, and a source of constant encouragement. Whether stopping by to chat, sharing your personal stories, or simply walking through our doors with a smile, you brought life and joy into this space every single day. You’ve celebrated with us in our successes, stood by us during challenging times, and shown a level of loyalty and compassion that I could have only dreamed of when I first opened Daylyn. Many of you came not just for products but for connection—for conversations, inspiration, and shared experiences. You’ve reminded me that a business is so much more than its walls; it’s the people who fill it with love, creativity, and purpose.

Knowing that Daylyn has been a meaningful part of your lives fills me with gratitude. You’ve left a lasting imprint on my heart, and I will carry your stories, kindness, and support with me as I step into the next chapter. Thank you for being the incredible community that you are.

To Paula and Melissa—words cannot fully express my gratitude for all you’ve brought to Daylyn. You have been the heart of the floor, helping our customers with kindness, knowledge, and patience. You’ve shared so much more than your expertise—you’ve given tears, hugs, smiles, and countless moments of laughter and joy.Your dedication and genuine care have made Daylyn a welcoming space for everyone who walked through our doors. Beyond being incredible team members, you’ve become dear friends over the years, and I’m so thankful for the friendship we’ve built. Thank you for everything you’ve done to make Daylyn a home, not just a store.

To the heart of Daylyn, the woman who spent endless nights helping move furniture and showed never-ending patience with one crazy idea after another—my mom, Julia. Whether it was redesigning, re-planning, or creating new products to share, her love for Daylyn and each customer expanded far beyond anything you could imagine.

My mom was here for it all: the tears, the wins, the long days, and the sleepless nights of worry—balanced by sleepless nights of excitement for what the next day at Daylyn would bring. She was my sounding board, my cheerleader, and the voice of reason when I needed it most. From brainstorming wild ideas to calming my doubts, she brought an unshakable sense of calm, love, and determination to every aspect of this journey.

Julia didn’t just help build the physical store; she helped build its heart. Every customer who walked through the door felt her warmth, her genuine care, and her steadfast belief in the power of connection and community. Her laughter filled the space on hard days, her wisdom guided me through the unexpected, and her resolute belief in Daylyn—and me—carried us through challenges I never thought we’d overcome. Her dedication and love didn’t just create a business; they created a legacy. And for that, I am forever grateful.

So, what’s next? Honestly, I don’t know yet. Don’t get me wrong—there are plans in action and projects in the works. A chapter may be ending, but the story is far from over. For the first time, I don’t have a perfectly mapped-out path forward, and that’s okay. What I do know is that whatever comes next will be rooted in the values that built Daylyn: positivity, integrity, and a commitment to helping others.
